Sometimes I'd like to ask God why He allows poverty, famine and injustice when He could do something about it. But I'm afraid God might ask me the same question.

My favorite things..

This is Pups, he breaks my heart. When Collin, my almost 17 year old son, was a little boy, Pups went everywhere with him. Pups was very loved, very well traveled and was always tucked into bed every night. When Collin would get home from school he would run through the house hollering, "Pups, where are you Pups" and Pups would always "respond" so that he would find him right away. Pups had cosmetic surgery to replace his stuffing and even had his eyes colored back in a few times. Here comes the heartbreaking part. When Collin was about 7 or 8 he was a bit weepy, Collin never was the weepy type. "What's wrong baby" I said. "Mommy, I am just worried about Pups. I don't know what's going to happen to him because now that I am getting bigger I don't take care of him as well and I am worried about what is going to happen to him when I grow up" I promised him then and there that I would always look after and take care of Pups. Pups now sits on a high cabinet in my bedroom. I go weeks without even noticing poor Pups. Yesterday Mina reached up and wanted to play with him, and I started to get a bit sad. No baby, that is my Pups, Collin's Pups, I just couldn't bear anything happening to Pups. If my house was on fire and all my kids were safely outside Pups would be one of the very first things I grabbed. Some people would say that I was not a rich woman because this is one of my few prized (material) possessions, I would have to strongly disagree. What is your favorite thing?

Brought a tear to my eye because I can connect...my fave was a blanket that is now framed in our baby's room. My oldest' fav is a pink puppy she lovingly calls Patches. She wants that dog every day after school, when she's hurt, or sad, at bed time, you get the point. She loves it as much as we love her. We actually own 7 Patches, in case it ever gets lost, or needs a washing, it's always there. She, of course, does not know this. She believes she owns the only one in the entire world.

That is too sweet. Unfortunately, my kiddos were never attached to any one thing. My youngest, we have yet to see...

Love the updates.

I have several "pups" and they break my heart too! My oldest had Bo and Ginger and Little Dingo, my second had an identical Little Dingo, my third has (note the present tense) his Pups and the girls have their bunnies and mousey!! I have also vowed that nothing will ever happen to these precious momentos of my kids' childhood! I am hopeful that maybe their kids will one day snuggle with them but I know they will more than likely have their own "pups." I will, however, always keep these treasures safe - for me!!!

You've probably seen pictures of Rachel's "Mr. Bear" - one of those blanket/"Luvie" things - bear head, blanket body - baby shower gift. She loved him so much his head came off (yes, of course I scrapbooked it, sick woman that I am... : ) Head is back on, he still goes to sleepovers with her or is the last thing she settles down with in her own bed at night - we joke (?) that he will be her "something old" to go with something new, borrowed and blue on her wedding day...LOVE Pups!! So sweet...

Amy, I so enjoy reading your post everyday. I can very much relate to this one as I have a "blankie" that I was given in the hospital when I was born and both my boys have one too. I still have all 3 blankies and they are my treasures. I too always said if my house were on fire, I would grab the kids, our bibles and the blankies! The boys have been raising money all summer with a lemonade stand to buy blankies for the kids in Feileys orphanage. We have about $200! We sent her a pink one in a care package and hope it is given back to us when we get her. Cathie

Riley just told me today that she is going to have Miles until she is 15 and then I can have him. I always said the day she stops sleeping with him is the day I start.

I have Jerry, a Giraffe made from an old pair of corduroy pants. Had him since I was born, and he is currently on a shelf in Shelby's room waiting for her!

Love the new pictures too!

Humm...I can't remember anything that was my favorite that I had to take everywhere. Eliana has a little stuffed hedgehog called Harry. He is her favorite and went to kindergarten with her every day. Karys has a little koala that she is sort of attached to but not nearly as much as Eliana to Harry.
